New Computer

Hi all . . . Well, there was a total crash of the old system - it needs a new motherboard - so. . . We now have a new system. Still need to move photos and files, but at least we are back up and

running. Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer.

Below are a few of the ATC's I did for the PAT 15 swap at Split Coast. The photos are not great but you can kindof get an idea of the subjects anyway.

These turtles are beaded in the center with fibers used for the grass.

The hummingbird

was cut from gold metalic paper using my Silouhette giving the beautiful details on his body and wing. His eye is a bead and the background is patterened paper.

The photo in the background for this card came from Masterpiece Dogs as did the cut out guy popped up in the front.

For a little different effect, I cut the seahorse from flocked paper and the seaweed is cut from fine paper, again using the Silouhette cutter. The shells are real.

Wow, I see it has been longer than I thought since I last posted to this blog. Life is happening fast around here. Tax season is over and I think I can see the sun again. Spring has been great, wonderful temps and pretty nice weather most of the time. School is almost over, home schooling my granddaughter this year has been fun, but takes most of my spare time. Just to make things interesting, I broke my foot in March, so everything is moving at half speed.

I have been working on some ATC's I will share with you in the next day or so. Below is a sneak peak, hope you enjoy!

This card was created using the provided sketch for challenge WCMD09K over at SCS. This is the first opportunity I have had to work with the new Webster's Pages papers and I fell in love with them. They all work together so beautifully it was a joy to create this card.

The base of the card is SU - all the patterned papers are from Webster Pages. The poinsettias were cut using QuicKutz and the stamp is from Darcie's. I hope you had a chance to play this weekend - we did and it feels great! Coming soon . . . more ATC's!

WCMD - Thank You

For my third challenge this weekend I created this Thank You card based on the sketch for WCMD09D over at SCS.

I used SU papers for the base, matts and flower on the card. The Thank You and flower stamps are from Daisy Bucket as are the background dotted paper and the globe. The rhinestones on the flower come from Kaiser Craft.

Can you believe it . . . I got two challenges done for World Card Making Day over at SCS!

This one was fun. Mostly I used stuff from my stash except for this cool stamp I got at my LSS and the Crafty Secrets Card Stock Cut Out from MDC.

Recipe to - Make Today The Best Day Ever:

I used SU cardstock in Bashful Blue for the base, then a matt of SU Creamy Caramel. The pretty patterned paper comes from Daisy Bucket as do the stamps that were used on the tag. Images were stamped using SU and Memento Inks. The matt for the tag and the base of the ribbon is SU Blue Bayou.

Last week our ATC club met at our LSS - this month's challenge was titled Ladies. I was perplexd until I saw this great paper from Graphic 45 - for me it was the perfect inspiration for this challenge.

I used the Graphic 45 paper for the background, the clock face, and the inside of the domed image at the bottom. The edge was cut with a boarder punch from my stash. The flower was also cut using a punch from my stash I punched it from chipboard and then painted with crackle paint. The flower center was created using the new Imaginisce ITop tool to create a brad from the matching Graphic 45 paper. The acrylic dome was also added from my stash.

Next month we will be making Halloween ATC's - I picked up a great stamp at my LSS a couple of months ago so my cards are already done! Can't reveal until after our next gathering though.

Summer, Sun & Seahorses

ATC's have been around for a while, but it wasn't until recently that I have had time to give them an honest try. This one was created for a swap at our LSS. The theme was 'Under The Sea' - The recipe is below. This was fun to make, especially the leaves (which were actually my daughters idea). It has several different elements which adds to the joy of the creation!

Materials: Royal Blue Cardstock (2 1/2" x 3 1/2"), Turquoise Blue Cardstock (2 1/4" x 3 1/4"), White Glossy Cardstock (2" x 3"), Transparency Film (2" x 3"), Green Paper Twist, ReInkers - Lt. Green, Turquoise & Lt. Blue Metallic, Brown Staz On Ink, Cinnamon Stickles, Sahorse Stamp, 2 Bronze Brads, Beacons 3 in 1 Glue & Liquid Glue, Alcohol, Cotton Ball, Sand & Small Shells.

Using the polished stone technique and the 3 ReInker colors , ink the glossy white cardstock. Using the Brown Staz On Ink - stamp the image onto the transparency film - set aside to dry thoroughly. After drying - apply a small amount of liquid glue (not Beacons) onto the lower edge of the outside (shiny side) of the transparency film and dip into the sand - shake off excess. To make leaves, cut random lengths of the paper twist. Untwist a small section close to the top being sure to leave the very top twisted as well as a length at the bottom for the stem. Using Beacons glue put a small bead of glue on the back side of the transparency film behind the area where the sand is, attach the transparency film to the inked glossy cardstock. Using a paper punch or piercer - make a hole in each of the top two corners of the transparency/glossy paper sandwich. Put the brads throught the two holes and fasten. Using standard adhesive and centering each layer attach the transparency/glossy paper to the turquoise cardstock and that combination to the Royal Blue Cardstock. Using the Beacons Glue adhere the paper twist leaves and shells to the top of the transparency. Use a small drop of stickles for the seahorse eye. Let dry thoroughly before transporting.

I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day! It's rainy here, so I am remembering all the vererans both in my family and across the country with a special page featuring the many Memorial Day Services that my DH and his Sea Cadet group have participated in at the Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in WPB! It's always a moving ceremony and gives us an opportunity to thank those who have stood up for our country and our freedom!

I used last weeks sketch at 52 Sketches/52 Weeks for my layout design and incorporated the Flag Challenge at MDC to come up with the page below. I used paper from Paper Salon for my layout and cut the parts for my embellishments using my Nestabilities and a couple of hand punches. The brads are from my stash and the title was done using my QuicKutz.

(Punching Tip: to get the stars on the circle to come out evenly, I first punched some stars from lightweight paper and glued them to the back of the circle - this lets you play with the spacing until you are happy with it. Then I punched through the glued stars to let the white show through from the circle below).

Mother's Day Journaling, Sentiments & Poems

I grew up in a family with lots of mothers, I had a mom, gramdmothers and great grandmothers. We all lived near eachother and usually celebrated Mother's Day with a large family get together. It wasn't until I began scrapbooking that I realized how much I had learned and benefited from having so many "mothers" in my life.

The hardest thing for me to do when scrapbooking is to add words to my page or card. I have loads of pictures and tons of paper to go with them, but what should I say? I thought it might be helpful to have a collection of Mother's Day ideas close at hand - so here is a link to a page or two of saying that we put together to help you with this very important part of your scrapbooking . . . enjoy!

Hi Everyone - Well, I finally got most of the taxes done (except for a few on extensions) The birthdays are all done for a while and I think most of the holidays are behind us . . . Whew!
Tam and I had a chance to put on a movie last night and work on todays Challenge at MDC! This weeks challenge was a sketch challenge based on a sketch from 52 Weeks/ 52 Sketches - I love Julie's sketches, they are always so much fun!

Joshie just had a birthday and mommy got him a bike. Last weekend he and Grandpa spent about an hour riding up one sidewalk and down another . . . he still needs some help with the steering, but he's getting it!

For my layout I used paper and embellishments from BoBunny's Grease Monkey collection!

For My Son!

This is a couple of days late, but then so are all my birthday, anniversary and holiday cards, it's just my way. Some day there will be an album with all of the cute baby pictures, childhood accomplishments and many roads J traveled, but today . . . we miss him terribly. There just is no replacing that wonderful smile, those dark knowing eyes or the best bear hugs ever!

Now a bit to the lighter side, we found this fabulous new paper company, Marks Paper Company! Our first shipment just arrived and as I was contemplating this page it seemed like the perfect fit. I created the tags using a journeling stamp from Prima and my handy Signo white pen. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine ATC

Wow, where is the time going? After welcoming December, I find myself well into February!
It has been a busy couple of months, with a couple more coming up, but this week we had an ATC Challenge at Mothers and Daughters and I just couldn't help but play (just a little)!

My card(s) was created from SEI - Lovebirds paper, mounted on sanded Core'dinations cardstock. The little stamp is from Daisy Bucket. I decided to feature two of my cards. This was my first try at ATC's and they were really fun to do. There is going to be a really cute prize this week to some lucky participant, see the details on our Blog Page!

MDC Scrapbook Challenge Monday!

This week we used a sketch from Julie Bonners "52 weeks . . . 52 sketches" she is a fabulous sketch artist - be sure to check out her site!

My entry is pictured above. I used Daisy Bucket paper from the Merry Wishes line. This paper actually contained all the elements I needed to create this layout from the sketch. I used Felt Flowers and Crystal Brads from Zva (I love their crystals, they are extra sparkly). The Believe stamp is from Imaginisce and was stamped with VersaMark and white embossing powder.

Money Tree

Today was Card Challenge day at Mothers and Daughters! This week our challenge was to create a card to hold money or a gift card. I saw this idea in Paper Crafts and decided to give it a try!

I used white card stock for my base and for the scalloped circle. I cut the cardstock on the fold so that only one side would need to be glued. The tree is cut from Best Creations Ornament patterned paper (this paper is gilttered and embossed and is truly beautiful all by itself) and I used some gross grain ribbon from May Arts for the trunk. The felt flowers and crystal brad come from Zva Creative. The scalloped cQuicKutz circle was is stamped with a round holiday greeting from Daisy Bucket!

As the hoildays approach, there are so many choices to make! This weeks challenge at the MDC Challenge Blog was a relief, we all got the same products! The challenge was to see what everyone would do with them.

Here is my entry.

I used SU cardstock and added a bow made from May Arts ribbon. The other products were selected by MDC, they are: Paper and snowfakes from the My Little Yellow Bicycle - Christmas Magic collection; Snowy Joe Gingerbread stamp from Imaginisce and White Opal Liquid Pearls from Ranger.

This weeks scrapbooking challenge at the MDC Challenge Blog was to create a fall home decor item. My mom is moving into a new house shortly and she loves to quilt, so this one is for her! I purchased the plaque and the letters at Michaels - they are painted with Making Memories and Heidi Swapp paints. I decoupaged the Basic Grey Granola paper onto the plaque and then added the letters. I adhered the corner accent, also from the Basic Grey Granola Collection Pack, to the wood frame and used foam dimensional squares to keep it up in the middle.
It was a lot of fun to do something different and I really enjoyed making something I know my mom will enjoy. Thanks for stopping by, see you Thursday for another MDC Challenge. Fall Tableware

Last weeks challenge at the MDC Challenge Blog was to create a table decor item. My little placecard seemed lost in the photo, so I added a napkin ring. Both were created with SU cardstock and Daisy Bucket paper. The little tree was cut from the paper and then I stickled the tree accents along with the flourish (My Little Yellow Bicycle) under the name. I used my Empire QuicKutz for the letters and wrapped a little paper twist around the trunk of the tree. I also used paper twist on the napkin ring around the edges of the paper. To top it off I added a little Kaiser bling to the corners of the card and the center of the design on the napkin ring. I hope you enjoyed this fun adventure. Thanks for stopping by!

Today we had a chance to take a few hours and work on some fun stuff!

We decided to do a couple of the challenges over at SC. The first one was to use 3 identical images. I really love this paper from SEI - Alpine Frost. It has a brushed metalic look that is very elegant. I used a Martha S border punch to create the paper strip and stamps from Paper Salon - Tailored Tin - Fall Frolic which I stamped with Memento brown ink. I used a ticket punch on the corners of the sentament and 4 metalic bronze brads from my stash.

The next challenge I worked on was to create a Pink Floral Card. Imaginisce did most of the work for me. I again used a MS border punch to create the paper strip for the sentament. The Imaginisce paper and flowers are from the Fairest Of Them All collection as is the larger fower and sparkly brad. The smaller flower comes from the For Peeps Sake collection.

Time In A Bottle

I am feeling a bit like time is floating away! Here it is, only 3 weeks until Thanksgiving and another 5 until Christmas! Where does the time go? I really need to get busy. Well, I was able to steal a few minutes today and do the MDC Challenge! Maria Levine of the DT provided us with an awesome sketch that fit perfectly with the Little Yellow Bicycle Christmas paper we just got in!

I had a chance to play the VSN Mini over at Split Coast last night and managed to get two cards done!

The first was for "The Understudy" Challenge. I created my layers using Imaginisce - Fairest Of Them All collection papers and Core'dinations Cardstock. The tree is from Imaginisce - FOTA Snag 'Em Stamps and is decorated with Waterfall Stickles. The brads, ribbon and filmy flowers are from the Imaginisce embellishments collection. The flower center was cut with my Nesties and the Happy Everything stamp comes from Daisy Bucket! This was a fun challenge and I got to use all this cute paper I have been dying to test out!

The second challenge I played was "Inspired by Moulin Rouge" - You could pick any costume from the movie! I chose the Oriental costume because of the 'Frogs' used as closures on the dress. My grandmother was a seamstress and I remember her using these on some of her creations and thought it would be fun to give it a try myself!

The background for my card is Prima -Adore from the Romantica Collection. I used black cardstock for the card and ruby cardstock for tab and the background behind the felt art strip. The flower center and faux brad on the tab are Stickles Liquid Pearls in gold. The "Just Because" is a Daisy Bucket stamp.

Fall Follies!

Hi everyone, sorry for the slight absence, as a tax preparer October 15 is the second biggest deadline of the year - and it is done! Horray! This week the MDC Challenge was to create a Fall Card while incorporating stickles or pearls into the design. We just got a bunch of new fall and winter stamps in the store from Serendipity so it was a challenge to decide which one I wanted to use for this weeks card. I decided on the Porch with Pumpkins because it reminded me of quiet afternoons in the country with the sun shining on the front porch and warming up the cool fall air.

I used SU cardstock for the base of the card and the matt under the picture. I used my
Prismacolor pencils to color the stamped image and Imaginisce Hallowhimsy paper for the striped and dotted matts. The corners of the stripped matt were punched with a ticket punch and Gold Stickles Pearls was used to create the faux brads in the corners.

Witches & Bats & Spiders - Oh My!

Time is on the fly and we are half way through September already! Things are starting to take shape, we even have a table to eat at again!

So . . . this week I decided to get a jump on time and did a Halloween card. The design is based on a sketch by Jennifer Meyer for today's Mothers and Daughters Creations Challenge. The base of the card and the pumpkin are SU Pumpkin Pie. The panels are matted on black and I used a ticket punch to punch the mats and the panels. The cute green paper is from the Imaginisce - Hallowhimsy collection - all the black elements on the page are embossed!
The pumpkin is cut with a cuttlebug die and stamped with the Imaginisce - Happy Halloween Stamp.

A Day To Remember

When I was growing up my grandparents would tell stories of World War II and the Depression and how hard life was during those years. The one day they all remember is December 7, 1941 - the attack on Pearl Harbor, a day that changed everything.

The day I will always remember and tell my grandchildren about is September 11, 2001. This day too, changed everything - even the skyline of our country.

I received an email recently reminding me that the anniversary of that day was coming up and asking that I fly my flag that day in remembrance. We fly our flag every day - on a tall pole in front of our house. So as my contribution to the extra flying of a flag on this most memorable day, I decided to create this card to share with all of you. I hope that we never again experience a day to remember like September 11th. Instead, when I think of days to remember, I want to think of homes and families and big front porches with their flags flying. I hope that's what you'll think of too.

The card base is SU Natural White and the red mats are SU Real Red. The Blue Polka Dots are from the Melissa Frances Little Guy page kit. The flag stamp is from Serendipity ; I colored it using SU Markers. I created the word "Remember" from the Daisy Bucket Mini Classic 1/4" Alphabet Stamp Set.

Lazy Dayz!

Good Morning from ? Sunny Florida ? - To look at the weather map you would wonder where the Sunshine State gets it's name. We are expecting rain (from TS Hanna) and more rain (from Hurricane Ike). Fortunately the traveling went well and the truck is unloaded so we can concentrate on preparing for weather changes!

My card this week is a softer kind of end of summer offering. The pretty daisy is from Outlines Stamps. I trimmed it leaving a slight white border and used pink brads to attach it to the SU Chocolate Chip matt.

The background for the card and the small rectangles were cut from Daisy Buckets Magical Moments collection. I used the ticket punch to punch the corners of the rectangles and mounted them on SU-CC also.
I cut out one of the dragonflies and coated it with stickles and pop dotted it to the upper corner to give the card a little dimension.

Leading The Way

For many years my husband and I have visited the lighthouses along the east coast. We have collected photos and memorabelia from all of the lighthouses from New Jersey to Florida. When we retire we hope to finish the lighthouses from New York to Main and then from Lousiana around the Gulf through Texas. The stories and history behind each lighthouse is unique and brings you to a much simpler time in history.

This week Maria Levine challenged us with a shape! When I went to the site she suggested
(www.bydonovan.com/templates) I found this great lighthouse and knew it must be meant for me!

I used SU -Barely Bannana for my card base and then added a matt of Not Quite Navy to the front. The lovely view from "On the Beach" is from Best Creations. I cut out the window shapes from the BB as well and outlined them with my SU-NQN pen and then added stickles for the "light" in the windows. From another section of the same paper I cut out one of the gulls and pop dotted him to the front. The sentament is a stamp from Daisy Bucket and really reflects the feeling of Simplicity I get from this card.

Summer Splendor!

As the end of summer approaches so does my stay in VA! Sunny days, beautiful sunsets and pretty end of summer flowers. All of these were the inspiration for this weeks MDC Challenge. Maria provided us with a fun sketch this week and the colors are all my summer favorites!

The base and oval accent for this card is Cream Core'dinations cardstock. The pretty orange plaid is the reverse side of the flowered paper from Best Creations. I cut the glittered flowers out and mounted them on a piece of blue Core'dinations cardstock matted with a piece of rust - all from the Nostalgia collection. I added a piece of ribbon from my stash and stamped the sentament with a rust ink which was also used for the dotts around the oval.

Funky Pockets!

Happy Thursday! The summer is going by soooo fast! We have had some wonderful treats this week - a pair of wild turkeys visit us daily. Usually around breakfast and lunch time - it is so interesting watching them scouring the yard for the best feeding spots! We have also been visited by a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers and a frequent flyer hawk who announces his presence as he swoops by!

This weeks challenge at MDC was to use Outlines stamps in your project. My favorite is the pocket - reminds me of my teenage years! LOL - I used SU Not Quite Navy cardstock for the matt and the same color ink along with the canvas background stamp to create the "jeansy look" on white cardstock. Istamped the pocket image twice with black ink, once on the background piece and once on white cardstock. I used Copics to color in the images and then cut them out. After adhering them to the top of the corresponding images on the card I used Kaiser Kraft Silver Rhinestones to create the various sized flower centers and swirls and Stickles for the smaller areas. No pair of jeans is complete without the patch! I had a scrap of canvas fabric which I stamped with a stamp from the SU set 'All About U'. Then I faux stitched around the patch and added some brass colored brads to attach it to the card. This was really a fun challenge for me, Thanks Maria!

Lemonade

The "lazy" days of summer are here! Well . . . maybe not Right Here . . . but the weather has been beautiful and at least for the moment things are calm. Just perfect to sit out back with an ice cold pitcher of Lemonade and watch the kids run through the sprinkler!

Maria Levine is this month's Designer Challenge Hostess and she has chosen Stickles as this weeks challenge! Fun - fun - fun. I have been looking at this set of "Lemonade" stamps from Serendipity for a couple of weeks now, and this seemed like just the right time to use them. By tilting the card a little, I got the stickles to show up on the photo pretty well too! The card is SU Old Olive cardstock and the matts are SU Always Artichoke. The pretty flowers and red dotted papers come from the Scenic Route (Providence Collection). I applied the stickles to the pitcher to add a cool feel to the icy beverage.

I stamped the sentament in two parts. The top of the stamp is on the front of the card and the bottom was used inside the card.

Wow! Here it is July 31! Where does the time go? Summer in VA has been great so far, not to many overly hot days and the grass is still green! This is the kids last week of camp and August begins tomorrow - I feel change coming!

This weeks MDC Challenge was a sketch challenge! This one was really fun - I used paper from the Basic Grey Archaic collection along with SU cardstock. The stamp is also from Basic Grey as is the rub-on in the upper left corner.

Well, today was Thursday - I should have had this up much earlier, but . . . sometimes the day just gets in the way. It is done and photographed and ready to view. The MDC challenge today was to use BoBunny paper. For my page I used the BoBunny Organic Laurel paper with Aquamarine Dot and Coral Dot for some of the accents. BoBunny Flora RubOns were used for the sprig and journaling block. For the tag beside the photo I used a stamp from the Serendipity Butterfly Bush small cling set. This little card was created for last weeks OCC Challenge. I purchaced this this Sizzix Die recently during a sale at our local AC Moore and could not resist. This challenge was to dry emboss which shows up beautifully using the Core'Dinations color core paper and one of my CuttleBug folders for the body of the suit. I just lightly sanded the tops of the embossed paisley to show the light pink underneath. I used Imaginisce flocked paper from the Baby Powder collection for the sleeves and inside back of the outfit and the Giraffe is an Imaginisce Snag 'Um Stamp stamped on the same paper. I added 3 tiny brads to the bottom to look like the traditional snap closing. Last of all, I used a SU rubon for the smile under the giraffe. MDC Challenge - July 17, 2008

Hi Everyone - Today's MDC design team challenge was to use nestabilities.

I saw a sketch I really liked at http://www.pagemaps.com/ and decided to go for it. We just got in some really pretty paper from Kaiser Craft and it all just seemed to put itself together. It went so well, I even had time to do a companion page!

I used the Kaiser Craft paper as my base and Core'Dinations

card stock for the photo matts and circles. I sanded the edges of everything including the photos. The circles are also sanded on the top to show their texture. I did some faux stitching on a couple of the circles and added a second layer to a couple just to add some dimension. The letters come from Scenic Route.

On the coordinating page I decided to go with a couple of photo matts instead of the center strip so it wouldn't cover up so much of the design on the paper.

We took the photos last month when we visited Loggerhead Marinelife Center. We needed a place to wait out a rainstorm and we had not been to the center before. It worked out great! The center is full of exhibits and information. And as the rain ended we went outside to view some of the turtles that had been rescued and let the kids play a bit. Depending on the time of year, they also sponsor turtle walks where you go out to the beach at night and watch as sea turtles either lay their eggs or baby turtles hatch and make their way to the ocean. And, when we were finished the storm had cleared enough to allow us a few minutes at the beach before the next storm came up!

MDC Challenge July 10, 2008

This weeks challenge is based on a sketch provided by Lynda Benden.
I used white card stock for my card. I then used the paisley cuttlebug folder to emboss a piece of SU Lavender Lace. The darker layer is SU Eggplant. The pretty violets are a Serendipity Stamp colored with SU markers to match the papers mounted on a thin matt of Gable Green.

I cut the border on the Sentiment with a border punch from Martha Stewart, then stamped with a stamp from SU. The two little brads in the corners of the sentiment are from Tamara's stash! It's always fun to use someone elses stuff!

Tomorrow I will send this card to a friend who lost her husband recently, I hope it will bring a spot of joy to her day as it did to mine as I created it for her.

Summer Magic

We made the treck from Florida back to Virginia last week. A pretty uneventful trip but due to the rains it was pretty green all along the road. The pretty greens inspired me to use the Green Color Core Black Magic for my card for the MDC Design Challenge this week. As I was busy packing and traveling last week I did not get a chance to participate in that challenge, so I used a sketch from last weeks challenge to design this weeks card.

I used SU Mellow Moss for the card because it coordinated with the Core Color of the Black Magic cardstock so well. I ran my Black Magic through a swirly Cuttlebug embossing folder that had birds on it and then sanded the tops and edges with a SU sanding block (do this over a trash can or scrap paper as it does make black dust). I matted the finished design on a piece of pink from the Basic Grey Sugared collection and used another piece for the little oval on the front. The rub on and ribbon are also from Basic Grey. Wow! What a week this has been. My daughter and grandkids are here visiting and we have been having a blast! Besides just enjoying everyone being here, we made a side trip to Butterfly World (check out Tamara's Blog for details).

Also this week we welcome Cindy Haffner to our Mothers and Daughters Design Team! Cindy has been playing along with our Design Team Challenges and we just love her work. Check out her entries in our Gallery and Challenge pages and of course visit her blog for a look at all her beautiful designs! Welcome Cindy!

My card for this weeks challenge features papers from the Imaginisce Baby Powder Collection. The base of the card is SU Certainly Celery with a thin White border, then a layer of the Imaginisce Baby's Breath paper. The Rattle base was cut from White using the QuicKutz Scallop and then punched in each Scallop with a coordinating inside scallop cut from the other side of the Baby's Breath paper. The giraffe was stamped on the Queen of the crib paper and the Baby's Breath. I cut out the muzzle, ears and spots to add a little dimension. The handle was fashioned from some beads I had left over from my shell crafting days as was the ribbon.

Butterflies

Wow! Here it is Thursday and I am late with this weeks MDC Challenge post. No excuses, I finished it to late last night to take and post the photo and this is the first chance I have had at the computer today. Today has been a combination of work, running errands and dodging thunder showers. For those of you who do not live in "Sunny FL" thunder showers are an interesting phenomina: You start with a beautiful sunny day; then in a matter of moments, dark clouds move in and you have heavy rain, thunder, and lightning; within the hour all is gone and the sun is back!

Anyway, here it is:

The challenge was to use shades of yellow, blue and green:

I used a yellow card for the base (although this upload looks kind of beige!) I tore a piece of green Core'dinations cardstock (the inside color is a lighter green). The scalloped square is cut from a piece of Memory Box paper from the Homespun Collection. The stamps are both from Serendipity - the words (Butterfly Bush Small Cling Set) are stamped with SU-Old Olive and the butterfly (Doodle Butterfly Cling Set) with SU-Bashful Blue. The two small brads (they are actually yellow also) are from my embellishment box and have been with me for quite some time.

Today We Begin . . .

Ok, so this is a whole new thing for me. I have been reading lots of your blogs and find something new (at least to me) in many of them. My hope is that you will find something new and interesting to you here from time to time as well.

I am preparing to attend CKC in Ft Lauderdale in a couple of weeks and found some of the items on the supply list to be a challenge to get. My daughter and I have both checked our LSS and Black Distress Ink seems to be something they do not stock. I found it at ACMoore on line - and what luck - It's on sale!

Today our store, Mothers and Daughters Creations, is having a DT Challenge and I thought I would play along. It always amazes me how different my projets turn out from the original idea. This challenge was to do something masculine in honor of Father's Day next week. This card will actually have a double duty as the grandkids will be here for Father's Day, a special treat for grandpa.

I created this card using SU Close to Cocoa for the base, larger circle and letters. I used SU Cool Carribean as the accent color for the smaller circle, corners and letters. The striped background is from the SEI Dill Blossom collection and I used a couple of stamps from

the Memory Box - Penguins at Play set to create the cute penguin and balloon. I colored the accents with SU Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive markers, which actually match the colors a bit better than it appears here, and topped it off using Cinnamon Stickles to bead the circle and make the dots in the corners.
